Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Where and what time will we play?
Our club website will be updated prior to the start of the season with field allocations and game / training times and dates. Information is typically posted one to two weeks prior to the start of the season.
What do we bring?
Players will need to bring the following to each training session:
• Soccer cleats or athletic shoes (for pre-school)
• Shin guards
• Water bottle
What time should we be there?
Preschool players should come to the field five to ten minutes prior to the start of their session. U6 and up players should arrive fifteen minutes early.
On the first day players should come to the clubhouse a minimum of 15 minutes to receive their jersey and meet their coach and team mates.
When will we meet the coach?
We ask our coaches to reach out to their teams prior to the first day to introduce themselves. Feel free to ask them any questions or alert them to any special needs your child may have.
What if they don’t like it?
Very young and active children may need a little extra encouragement, so we strongly support parent participation in our preschool program. Don’t be too concerned if your child doesn’t fully engage in the sessions; the key at this age being active and introducing your child to sport.
What amenities are available on-site?
There are public washrooms in the clubhouse and complex, as well as a canteen (summer) and water fountain (winter).
How can I encourage my child?
Parents should encourage their children and simply enjoy watching them participate. Comments like, “I love to watch you play” or even a “great work” go a long way. Above all, be positive. Be your child's biggest fan.
How can I get involved?
In order for our programs to be successful, we need your help! If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity, please contact us at admin@nnusc.com
What if we have a problem with the coach?
Parents should respect coaches. Our coaches are volunteers who love the game and love to see children active and having fun. If you have a challenge with a coach, we encourage respectful dialogue following the training session. If you are not comfortable speaking directly to the coach, please report it to the clubhouse or email admin@nnusc.com. If you are concerned for the safety of the players, please immediately interject or come directly to the clubhouse to speak to a club representative.
How will we know if soccer is cancelled?
In case of cancellation due to heavy rain, thunderstorm advisories or other adverse weather conditions, we will post on our website www.nnusc.com, post on our Facebook page (Northern Nova United Soccer Club) and announce on ECFM 94.1.
If you have any further questions or feedback, please do not hesitate to visit our website www.nnusc.com, our Facebook page or contact us at admin@nnusc.com!
See you on the pitch!
